Coming Out As Your Creative Self

I haven’t written any of these thoughtful posts for a while, but I know that December can be a very stressful period for many as things seem to speed up! And I wanted to just touch on the importance of spending time with that more intuitive side of ourselves that can often get left behind when the demands of daily life can be too much!

I do believe that our abilities to tap into our creativity and using it to drive our daily lives is essential for our mental health and overall well-being. It might be as simple as arranging some objects on a table, exploring a solution to a problem or seeking to create an artwork from scratch. Whatever the action, its a leap into the unknown and giant step toward a better world!

Some people say that they “aren’t creative” or that ‘so and so’ got the creative gene and that they missed out. I always come back to that line by Picasso is that “every child is born an artist”. The problem of course is maintaining that throughout our adult lives.

And I do believe that we are living in incredible creatively fuelled times but on the opposite side of this is war, greed and power hungry destruction! So on one side is creativity and on the other side is destruction. Create or destroy. So on a micro level, if you’re feeling pretty low and you haven’t done much creative stuff lately,  try something small-it might just give you the lift you need. Or you might be able to advise someone else who is having a hard time.

I have been so incredibly fortunate to be in touch with so many amazing artists, many who are lucky enough to be full time, living their dreams on a daily basis. They have helped me realise my fullest potential and I continue to expand on my journey as a result.
